What is the Site Ambassadors Program?
Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) is completing a
massive rebuilding programme, which will result in the relocation and
reorganisation of hospital and health services across the Auckland City
Hospital/Te Papakainga Atawhai Campus and Greenlane Clinical
Centre/Maungakiekie Campus. We wish to ensure that all patients and other
visitors can take advantage of these new facilities without confusion or
anxiety.
The Volunteer-Site Ambassadors provide friendly assistance, enabling
people to find their way around the new hospital, clinics, wards and other
facilities as required. All Site Ambassadors are trained and easily
recognised in their uniform.
The Volunteer Programme was initiated in 2003 to provide a quality service
for all people visiting ADHB sites at Auckland City Hospital/Te Papakainga
Atawhai Campus and Greenlane Clinical Centre/Maungakiekie Campus. Site
Ambassadors bring with them a caring, sincere attitude and enjoy meeting and
directing patients, visitors and their families.
Site Ambassadors come in for one shift each week for four hours. However
some volunteers prefer to do several shifts each week and that is welcomed.
Volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment of six months. This is due
in part to the role itself, as it may take awhile to become familiar with
the sites and changes happening, but also we need a strong committed team.
We provide Volunteer-Site Ambassadors with free car parking, travel
allowance, uniform and training. Also we organise social occasions to say
thanks to the team, this also provides an opportunity to meet other
volunteers in the programme.
If you are available to make a regular ongoing commitment for six months or
more and would like to be a member of this busy Volunteer Team please
contact the Volunteer Centre. Phone 375-7095, Fax 375-7065 or print and post
your application to : ADHB Volunteer Centre, Private Bag 92024, Auckland.
